First wig fitting · Chair 2
I came in expecting to cry. I left with a hairstyle, a coffee, and three new friends.
The first interplanetary salon. Open Mondays. Free for anyone in treatment — Earthling or otherwise.
Visit the Salon →Tucked along Main Street in Islip, behind a soft door and a quiet awning, there is a salon where the chair you sit in feels like an arm around your shoulders.
For thirty years Racine has been a working salon — color, cut, blowout, the ordinary magic of being made to feel like yourself. But on Mondays, the lights soften, the music slows, and the room becomes something else entirely.
On Mondays, Racine belongs to anyone in treatment. The chairs are free. The wigs are real hair. The cosmetics are the good ones. And the welcome is the kind that doesn't flinch when you walk in without your hair.
Every week we close to the public and open to anyone in treatment. No fee. No paperwork. Just a chair, a hand, and time.
Some travel a few miles. Some travel a few light-years. Everyone gets the same chair, the same coffee, the same hands.

Antenna conditioning · Scalp care after radiation
My antennae are brittle from the treatments. Rachel handled them like glass roses. They glow again.
Head shave · Hot towel · Beard trim
I'd been putting it off for weeks. Twenty minutes later I felt like myself for the first time since the diagnosis.
Six manicures · Soft pink, all six hands
On Vega we are taught to hide our hands when we are weak. Here, all six were held at once.
First post-chemo cut · Pixie · Celebration
When the hair grew back I came right back here. Where else? Cynthia gave me the haircut of my life.
Form reshaping · Gentle hands, no scissors
My form had gone shapeless from the treatments. They did not try to fix me. They helped me hold myself again.
Founded in 2003. Built one chair, one Monday, one person at a time.
With Mondays at your side, you are never alone.
If you are in treatment, come Monday. If you want to give Mondays to someone else, come any day. If you are not from this planet, send a transmission — we'll get back to you.
If you or someone you love is in treatment, Mondays are free, private, and held with care.
For Humans →Stylists, volunteers, donors, photographers, drivers — every Monday needs more hands.
For Helpers →For the Lunari, the Sextarmed, the Mistweavers, and everyone in between.
For now, every Monday on Earth.
